The 4 Must-See Destinations Around Ouzoud

1. Bin El Ouidane Lake (~45 km from Ouzoud)

A huge reservoir lake with turquoise waters surrounded by red mountains, perfect for jet-skiing, kayaking, and sport fishing. Several lakeside restaurants and hotels let you spend a night with a panoramic view of the hydroelectric dam, the largest in Morocco.

2. Imi N'Ifri Natural Bridge in Demnate (~60 km)

A giant limestone arch carved by underground water, more than 30 metres high, home to many prehistoric-looking birds. A well-kept trail lets you walk down under the arch to see the stalactites and the small stream that flows there year-round.

3. Aït Bouguemez Valley, the "Happy Valley" (~3h drive)

In Aït Bouguemez, mudbrick villages, communal granaries, and terraced fields fill a wide valley ringed by peaks over 4,000 metres. This isn't a quick stop-off — the drive takes time, and the valley mainly serves as a starting point for hikes toward the M'Goun. Our guide to combining Ouzoud and the Happy Valley breaks down the possible itineraries.

4. The M'Goun Geopark (UNESCO Territory)

This vast UNESCO-listed territory covers the entire Azilal region, including the Ouzoud Waterfalls themselves. It holds fossilized dinosaur footprints, spectacular gorges, and remarkable biodiversity — living evidence of 200 million years of the High Atlas's geological history. Tip for Planning Your Trip
To make the most of the region, we'd suggest a 2-day trip combining Ouzoud and Bin El Ouidane with an overnight stay, rather than an exhausting round trip from Marrakech in a single day. Our private trip can adapt its timing to fit this kind of extended itinerary.
