People come to Ouzoud first for the waterfalls. Still, it would be a shame to reduce the visit to a few photos from the lookout — much of the site's appeal lies precisely between the top and the bottom of the falls.
The trail winds through olive groves, passes small stalls, and gradually reveals different angles on the valley. The further down you go, the louder the water gets. What to do at Ouzoud?
Admire the falls from above
Don't start the descent right away. Take a few minutes to take in the valley from above. This is where you really grasp the geography of the place — the falls, the greenery, the cliffs, and the path gradually winding down to the river. The views also shift with the light and the season.
Hike down to the foot of the falls
This is probably the most rewarding part of the visit. The path descends gradually toward the valley floor. It includes steps, and some sections can get slippery when wet, so good shoes beat smooth sandals. Take a boat ride
